MIDLAND, TX (KCBD) -

New information from an arrest warrant affidavit has revealed details about Thursday's fatal shooting in Midland.

The affidavit says 21-year-old Aaron Castillo of Lubbock shot Kyara West, also 21, in the head and chest.

Midland police say Castillo was upset about a child support hearing on Wednesday. Police say West and Castillo had two children together, and in that hearing, he was ordered to pay $300 a month to West for each child.

Police found Castillo in a Midland home yesterday morning and took him into custody. KWES reports that he will be facing a murder charge.

Thursday, KWES NewsWest 9 in Midland reported that West was found lying in a large area of grass on the west side of the Midland Village Apartments. She had multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead on the scene.

KWES also reports that 21-year-old Carlos Martinez has also been arrested and charged with tampering with evidence. Martinez and another subject are suspected of hiding the weapon used in the murder of 21-year-old Kyara West as well as clothing. Investigators say that so far, neither Martinez or the other subject were involved in the shooting itself.

The investigation is ongoing. We'll continue to update this story as we learn more.
