Two boys were sent to the hospital with critical injuries around 2 a.m. Saturday morning after running into a tractor at FM 2378 and Filly Road, just northwest of Wolfforth.
DPS officers tell us two men were pushing a Kubota Mule Tractor after it ran out of gas. A woman was steering while the men pushed.
Two of their friends were riding their dirt bike on the way to help, but the rider didn't see the tractor and ran into the rear of the Kubota Mule. The two men were immediately ejected from the bike.
The driver of the dirt bike, Zachary Cravin, 17, from Smyer and his passenger 22-year-old John Gonzales of Smyer, were both transported to UMC by ambulance, both in critical condition. The woman driving the Kubota Tractor was taken to a local hospital by a private driver. The nature of her injuries is not known at this time.
DPS officers want to remind parents and children that utility vehicles such as dirt bikes, ATV's and golf carts are designed for terrain use not roadways.
We'll continue to update this story as we learn more.
