Most of us just assume that dark sodas are going to be harder on our teeth than the light ones. A study in general dentistry proves just the opposite.
It says that light colored sodas like ginger ale were the most destructive causing up to five times more enamel erosion than regular colas and even more likely than black tea or coffee to destroy tooth enamel. Canned teas with lemon were also a problem for the same reason, their acid levels.
For what it's worth, researchers decided the safest soft drink for your teeth enamel is root beer. The study was conducted at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Dentistry.
