Lamesa has seen a significant increase in sales tax revenue over the past few years, indicating strong economic growth.
The Lamesa Economic Development Corporation says hotel and motel occupancy is nearly full, meaning there's a lot of activity across the town.
Lamesa's location is a big part of what makes it appealing. Seven major highways come into the city, attracting new businesses and job growth.
Bobby G. Gonzalez is board president for the Lamesa Economic Development Corporation.
"Seeing new faces around town and I think it's going to [increase] the need for housing, so that's something that we have started to explore," Gonzalez said.
The Lamesa Boys and Girls Club is undergoing a massive park renovation.
The city hopes that will also draw new people to the town.
