Citibus announces CitiKids Pass & Backpack contest

Provided by Citibus

July 29th marks the start of Citibus' back to school campaign. Simply text Citibus1 to 70720 to enter the drawing to win a CitiKids 90 day bus pass and a backpack filled with back to school supplies. Visit Citibus.com and our Facebook page for listing of information including maps, routes, how to ride and the locations where children 18 and under can eat a hot meal for the rest of the summer for free through the No Kid Hungry Campaign.

Citibus is holding a contest and giving away a prize each month for 12 months. By texting Citibus1 to 70720 and opting in to receive text notifications, Citibus will be able to push out important messages to our customers about bus delays, route changes, weather issues, accidents and other transit information along with contests. Maurice Pearl, Citibus GM, stated "Staying connected to our customers helps Citibus improve customer service. If we can push out messages related to their transportation, passengers are more likely to trust the bus system and ride more often".

Riding Citibus opens opportunities not just for adults but for kids all over Lubbock, and that is where the Back to School Give Away comes into play. Use the bus to get to work, summer school, play dates and for activities including the movies, shopping and eating out. Kids age 6-12 ride Citibus for $1.25 a day and those kids 6-18 may purchase a CitiKids or CitiSummer pass for $52.50 to ride for 90 days.

The No Kid Hungry Campaign for Texas, through Baylor University's Texas Hunger Initiative, aims to increase awareness of meals sites across the state. The Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to anyone 18 and under throughout the summer months. Since our bus routes are near many locations, we have placed posters on the buses and on our website that show exactly where kids 18 and under can get at least one meal each day. Public Transportation really can change lives and add a whole new world of options to our youth who thought they were homebound.

Be sure to Text Citibus1 to 70720 for a chance to win the prize of the month. Remember to check out citibus.com for locations of where you can get a hot meal through the end of August for ages 18 and under. Thank you for riding Citibus. You must be over 18 to participate or have parental approval for texting.
