CROSBYTON, TX (KCBD) - The City of Crosbyton is making an impact on renewable energy across the state.
Wind farms in the area are expected to supply energy to cities around Texas.
Crosbyton resident and energy expert Joe Heflin tells us each farm will generate about $250 to $400 million.
The revenue from the turbines will alleviate property taxes, homeowner taxes, benefit local schools and create jobs.
"Every ten turbines will create a full-time job, and they're high-paying jobs because you don't want just anyone climbing up 300 feet," Heflin said.
Heflin says this energy will be transported to big cities who are in need of larger sources of energy to prevent blackouts, such as the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
The turbines will be placed on land leased by local farmers.
