Mount Blanco Fossil Museum attracting visitors from around the world

CROSBYTON, TX (KCBD) -

The footprints of some prehistoric friends are seen all across Crosbyton, and it's one man's goal to preserve that history for future generations.

Joe Taylor is owner of the Mount Blanco Fossil Museum.

Right off Highway 84, it's impossible to miss the giant mammoth skull and endless dinosaur bone collection.

Taylor opened the museum in 1998 and many of the artifacts were dug up right here in Crosbyton, but the facility attracts countless visitors from far and near.

"I have people drive hundreds of miles. They'll come from Canada and make a special trip down here," Taylor said.

But paleontology doesn't take up all of Taylor's time.

He's an accomplished artist who has painted album covers for Olivia Newton John, Mac Davis and Waylon Jennings, to name a few.
