There's a big event coming up in 3 weeks, to raise money for scholarships to allow the brightest students to reach their dream of going to medical school.
Texas tech and the Lubbock Crosby Garza Medical Society are bringing Dr. Ken Cooper to Lubbock for an evening of dinner, dancing and wisdom.
Dr. Cooper will be speaking, and in case you don't remember, Ken Cooper is the creator of aerobics, and the man who changed the way America thinks about exercise.
"When our parents were growing up, if they were driving down the road and saw somebody running they would look behind them to see who was chasing them. Ken Cooper changed all that with aerobics, the fitness movement, and so he took exercise from being something you did as a recreation to something physicians use as a tool for treating and preventing disease," says Dr. President Tedd Mitchell, president of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
So, if you would like to be a part of this fundraiser featuring Dr. Ken Cooper, it is planned for August 24th at the Civic Center.
