The Red Raiders report to Fall Camp on Friday, then they'll hold an open practice Saturday at 6 p.m.
Kliff Kingsbury sat down with KCBD's Pete Christy on Thursday. Here are the Kliff Notes from that interview:
On opening up the first practice:
"That'll be great. We'd love for everybody to get out there and watch these kids. They've been working hard all summer. Any time we have a crowd out there, they give a little extra. It's gonna be a fun night."
The 2 major concerns he has entering Fall Camp:
"Obviously, sorting out our quarterback situation. Naming a starter there and then find our depth at O-Line. That's a position at the end of Spring, we struggled at a bit with numbers. We need guys to step up and be ready to go."
On QB Battle Between Michael Brewer and Davis Webb:
"Both have had great summers. We feel great about either one moving the football and winning football games. We'll see who elevates their game and takes off with it. Both great kids and both great representatives of the University."
On what he might name the Starting QB:
"We'll probably get to that 2nd scrimmage of Fall camp and go from there. If someone jumps way out and takes it over, we'll go with it. There is no set timetable."
On closing practice after Saturday's Open to the Public workout:
"With two young kids battling it out at the quarterback position, we just want to handle that in house and not get it out on the internet and have it a public discussion. That's really the main reason. Then we have some new stuff going on, so when we play that first game, it will be new to everybody."
On his tweet of a photo showing Leonardo DiCaprio wearing a Texas Tech hat:
"That's as big a movie star as you can get. That was big time. I'm glad Leo was reping Texas Tech. We need to get him more gear. We'll find a way."
On possibly the color Gray being used on the uniforms:
"Yeah, we'll see. We haven't unveiled anything yet. We're big on letting our players have input. We'll have some options on a week to week basis that will decide what we're going to wear. We want them to feel good about what they're wearing."
