LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Texas GOP hopefuls were in Lubbock Saturday to show the Hub City what they're made of.

George P. Bush headlined a luncheon hosted by the Texas Republican Party.

The 37-year old son of Jeb and nephew of George W. is running for Texas Land Commissioner.

Two Republican attorney general candidates were also on hand today.

Barry Smitherman tells KCBD, if elected as A.G., he'll make securing our boarders and getting illegals off the streets a top priority.

"We need to put illegals in jail for trespass, littering, DWI, assaulting someone - any of these crimes, which are on the books now, would allow us to get them off the streets."

The money raised on Saturday will go to help candidates in races locally and across the state.
