HALE COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

An Abernathy man who plead guilty to a 2012 murder and aggravated assault will get 60 years in prison.

A Hale County jury deliberated for nearly four hours Tuesday before handing down the minimum two-year sentence for aggravated assault and 60 years for first-degree murder.

Monday, 19-year-old Samuel Anthony Cisneros of Abernathy entered a guilty plea for shooting two men in Abernathy on May 27, 2012.

Cisneros admitted he fatally shot 53-year-old Asuncion Loredo and critically injured 30-year-old Jose Ruben Perez when arrested on that night.

Cisneros told the court he was protecting his family from Perez who he said stole from his 68-year-old father. He also said Perez had threatened Cisneros' father and 7-year-old brother with violence.

Cisneros will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
