Yesterday, we learned the Dutch are using stem cells from cattle to make beef, today, Japanese researchers say they've discovered how to stem cells from mice, and produce sperm.
A team at Kyoto University injected three types of genes into the stem cells of mice with what they call 80% accuracy. Those cells were then implanted into a mouse, and healthy sperm was produced.
The researchers say they're hoping this new method will eventually lead to new treatments for infertility.
Look for the study in the British science magazine, "Nature".
