Local DJ writes book, proceeds go to Red Cross

On any given day of the week, radio listeners can tune into local DJ, "Mudflap" and his co-hosts, Kelli and Jeff, as they broadcast their morning show on KLLL-FM. However, behind his self-deprecating sense of humor, Mudflap is a novelist.

"Really, I come up with all kinds of bits every year. I've had the Mudflap bobble heads, I've had all kinds of crazy stuff.  This year, I decided I wanted to write a romance novel," Mudflap said.

Earlier this year, Mudflap contacted an author named Christi Snow and together, the penned a romance novel called "The Shadow of Mudflap." The book, is a legitimate romance novel.

"This book is about first responders, it's about football, it's about West Texas, it's about spies.  You know, it's all fictional, but it's a lot of fun to read. It's a quick read, too, it's a good read," Mudflap said.

Mudflap didn't write the novel for the attention. Instead, he did it with a goal of donating all proceeds to the South Plains Chapter of the Red Cross in Lubbock.

"It's fun, you know, that Mudflap wrote a romance novel. But, in all reality we're giving back to the Red Cross, here.  That's a cool thing to do," Mudflap said

The book goes on sale Wednesday.  It's available online and in bookstores worldwide. To purchase the book, click here: http://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Mudflap-Foxtrot-Novel-ebook/dp/B00E4OO6X0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375749345&sr=8-1&keywords=shadow+of+mudflap

Mudflap will be hosting two book signings this week. Thursday, he will be at Wine Nest from 4 to 7 p.m. On Saturday, he will be at Barnes and Nobel from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
