NEW DEAL, TX (KCBD) -

DPS responded to a one-vehicle accident on I-27 near New Deal Thursday afternoon.

John Gonzales with DPS says the vehicle was traveling on I-27 northbound when it began to swerve and crossed over the center median onto the southbound overpass.

The vehicle then ran into the guardrail, fell off the bridge and crashed underneath.

After the fall, the vehicle caught on fire.

Emergency crews were able to remove the driver from her vehicle and transport her to UMC.

Officials have identified the driver as 38-year-old Amber Warren of Lubbock.

Gonzales says Warren has diabetes and the accident may have been caused by a diabetic seizure.

Officials say she is responsive but have not confirmed her condition.

No other vehicles were involved.

The accident is still under investigation.
