City Council votes to drop $30 LP&L payment plan fee

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Thursday evening, members of the Lubbock City Council voted unanimously to drop the $30 LP&L charge for customers making payment arrangements. Their vote will waive the fee for ninety days.

The decision is retroactive dating back to June 1st, meaning those who already paid the June fee will get their money back.

During public comments, many residents demanded accountability and answers.

Councilman Todd Klein said they could possibly waive the fee for a longer period of time down the road.

"Let's look in about six weeks to see where we're at. We may have justification to extend further than that," he said.
