LP&L disputes Mayor's claims they are 'in good shape financially'

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock Power and Light challenged some figures cited by Mayor Glen Robertson Thursday night.

In a recent Facebook post and subsequent interview, Robertson claimed that in 2012, LP&L spent over $3 million in raises and only added one employee. He says LP&L isn't in the bad situation they are claiming.

At Thursday night's city council meeting, LP&L addressed the mayor's claims. LP&L spokesman Matt Rose said there is a difference between the actual and proposed budget, and the right numbers need to be compared.

"A lot of what we've heard out there recently has been comparing two numbers that are not actually an apples-to-apples comparison," Rose said.

LP&L says their budget is available online and encourages the public to review it themselves.
