I grew up right here in Lubbock and graduated high school from Lubbock-Cooper in 2009.
The next year I spent at West Texas A&M University in Canyon.
Although I enjoyed it, I knew that my calling was somewhere else. So late in the summer before my sophomore year I decided to transfer to Abilene Christian University.
Having several family members, including my mother, graduate as a Wildcat, I guess you could say I bleed purple!
I spent my time at ACU involved in my Social Club, Sigma Theta Chi, serving as the Chaplain for a year.
During my junior year I became part of the award-winning journalism program, The Optimist, as a sports videographer and reporter.
I spent four months last summer as a weekend reporter at KTXS in Abilene, where I got most of my experience in a working newsroom.
My senior year I dedicated to being the Sports Director for the journalism department and co-host of The Ken Collums Show, a weekly ACU football show broadcast on KTXS.
I also spent time reporting for ACUSports.com doing player and coach interviews in my senior year.
After graduation in May, I was thrilled to land a job right here in my hometown.
I have grown up loving the area and that has been affirmed in moving home after spending years away.
Being part of the KCBD family is surreal, I grew up watching the station and idolizing the anchors.
When I'm not working, my heart is for college football (or any sport really), my family, and my outrageously hyper dogs, Bo and Buck.
