It's that time of year again!
Thousands of Red Raiders moved into their new homes on campus Saturday for another year at Texas Tech University.
"Our staff here is so supportive of students. We have a great student-centered university committed to student success. It's a great family atmosphere today," said Duane Nellis, President of Texas Tech University.
Nellis says the residence halls on campus are first-class.
"I'd put them up against any in the country. We're just really proud of this facility," Nellis said, speaking specifically about Talkington Hall.
This is the first opportunity for students to move in before the fall semester starts Monday, Aug. 26th.
Chris Cook, Managing Director of the Office of Communications and Marketing at the university, says about 7,100 students will be living on campus this year - including 5,500 new students.
Visit Lubbock says the event is estimated to bring in more than $360,000 for the local economy.
Students can participate in Raider welcome events all week long where they'll see a lot of familiar faces, including the Masked Rider, Raider Red, the Texas Tech cheer squad and many other Texas Tech icons.
