Bullock is one of the greatest players in Texas Tech basketball history. The San Antonio native is the only player in school history to record 2,000 points (2,118) and 1,000 rebounds (1,057). When he left the South Plains, Bullock was the all-time leader at Texas Tech in career points, field goals made, field goals attempted, field goal percentage and blocks, while ranking third in career rebounding. He still ranks in the Top 5 in every category and is currently third all-time in scoring at Texas Tech.
Nationally, Bullock ranked in the Top 20 in scoring and field goal percentage for three straight seasons.
Bullock led Texas Tech to a pair of Southwest Conference titles in 1973 and again in 1976 and two trips to the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Sweet 16 in 1976.
He was a four-time All-Southwest Conference selection, the 1973 SWC Newcomer of the Year and the 1975 and 1976 SWC Player of the Year. Bullock was also recognized nationally after he was selected a freshman All-America selection in 1973 and earned All-America honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. Bullock was also twice the leading vote-getter for the All-District VI team as a junior and a senior.
In 1976, Bullock was selected in the fourth round, 57th overall, by the New York Knicks. He was selected as a starter for both the Coaches All-Star Game and the Pizza Hut All-Star Classic following his senior season.
Bullock is a 1985 inductee into the Texas Tech Hall of Honor.
