Ector County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a shots fired call at 2040 N. Palomino on Monday.

The complainant advised officers that she had gone to a trailer house located at 2042 N. Palomino to serve an eviction notice. When she opened the screen door to attach the eviction notice, a shotgun blast came through the door.

She received minor injuries on her hand from the glass from the storm door.

Deputies determined the actor/renter was not home at the time of the incident and that the front door had been booby-trapped so that a shotgun would fire upon the opening of the screen door.

Due to the possibility of more booby traps in the house, a search warrant was issued by Judge Whalen and the Odessa Police Department Bomb Squad was called out to make entry to the residence to sweep the area.

No other booby traps were found inside the residence, and no one was found inside.

A warrant was requested and granted by Judge Lange for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Felony 2.

At approximately 4 a.m., the actor/suspect, Wade Dwane Woods, a white male, 11/03/1953 was arrested out of a local motel room and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Felony 2.

Woods was transported to the Ector County Detention Center and remains in custody at this time.

No bond was set as of the time of this release.
