LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

SWAT Officers with the Lubbock Police Department have taken a former Marine into custody after a tense standoff on Monday night.

Police say 28-year old Gabriel Edmeier barricaded himself inside a home near 33rd Street and Avenue V around 6:45 p.m.

Police say Edmeier threatened to kill himself and anyone who approached the home. Edmeier's roommate was inside the home as well, but was able to escape, unharmed.

The roommate confirmed to police that Edmeier was equipped with body armor and an AR-15. After negotiating with the suspect, Edmeier came out of the house peacefully around 8:45 p.m. Police then cleared the residence with a remote-controlled robot.

Edmeier was taken into custody on a felony warrant. He is being held in the Lubbock County Jail. No additional charges are expected to be filed.
