COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The Gamecocks' number one receiver could be out for the home opener against North Carolina while he battles a hamstring injury.

Following Tuesday night's practice, coach Steve Spurrier revealed Bruce Ellington is still dealing with the nagging issue.

"Bruce is questionable," said Spurrier. "He'll try to run around tomorrow."

Ellington has been battling the hamstring injury for most of summer practice. Just days ago, Ellington appeared to have healed from the issue, but reaggravated it a short time later.

Busta Anderson could also miss the Thursday opener as well.

In other injury news, defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward said linebacker Cedrick Cooper will be out due to an elbow injury.

The Gamecocks take on the Tar Heels at 6 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium.
