Neugebauer wants congressional approval before action in Syria

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Congressman Randy Neugebauer is expressing concerns about the developing situation in Syria.

Neugebauer says it's a terrible tragedy to use chemical warfare on your own people.

He was responding to the speech Secretary of State John Kerry made on Friday, accusing the Bashar Al Assad regime of attacking innocent civilians last week.

Kerry says the U.S. knows where the chemicals were fired from and what areas they targeted.

The Obama administration is trying to win public support for a possible military strike against the Syrian government, but Congressman Neugebauer questions whether military action would solve the problem:

"I think that's the unanswered question. The other question is...are we stoking a fire that could actually make things worse over there?"

Neugebauer says he wants the Obama administration to get approval from congress before any action is taken.
