Tips to help allergy sufferers

Posted: Updated:

Another seasonal problem is on the rise. The recent rain is making weeds and grass a problem for allergy sufferers. If you find yourself sneezing and sniffling this time of year, there are several home remedies to help reduce your misery.

Some people swear by organic apple cider vinegar, which you can get at the health store. Allergy experts will tell you there is no evidence to support that. But most doctors agree there are proven tips that can help allergy sufferers.

  • Keep your windows closed.
  • Turn on the AC
  • Use an air cleaner with a HEPA filter.
  • Wipe your face with a wet cloth often and rinse your nose with a wet tissue.
  • Take a shower before bed and wash your hair every night, especially if it's long.
  • Routinely wash bed sheets and blankets in hot water.
  • Sunglasses may help decrease itchy eyes.
  • Always wear a mask when mowing
  • A non-drowsy antihistamine can work well for sneezing and itching.

If problems continue, you may need to see an allergist for more relief.
