LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock teenager suffered critical injuries in a car accident in east Lubbock County Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of FM 3525 and County Road 3300.

DPS troopers say 16-year-old Zachary Weller was headed north on 3300 when he ran the stop sign and slammed into another vehicle.

That vehicle was driven by 52-year-old David Welborn.

Weller was airlifted to UMC. Welborn was driven to Covenant.

Investigators say Weller was headed east, and are not sure if the sun impaired his vision.

Weller was said to be in stable condition as of Wednesday night.
