LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A documentary focusing on the drug war in Mexico will be featured in Lubbock this weekend.

The filmmaker spoke with students at Texas Tech on Monday.

Charlie Minn says the drug war has killed more than 100,000 people since 2008.

He says his film will shed light on the growing problem.

"This work, in my eyes, is just as important as Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. As a matter of fact, the drug war has killed more people than those other wars combined," Minn says.

"The New Juarez" will start showing Friday at Premiere Cinemas. The first showing is at 11:30 a.m.

The documentary is about an hour and a half long.
