Lubbock City Council approves property tax increase

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock City Council approved the city budget for 2014 with a vote of 4 to 3 Tuesday night.

There will be a 2.8% property tax increase which is $1.23 per $100 property evaluation.

Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson said the base water fee was reduced. However, the waste water, storm water, and solid waste fees remain the same.

The council members also struck down a proposal to add funding for smart meters back into the budget for 2013.
