Zombies invade Lubbock in the West Texas Zombie Run

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock will have a chance to test its survival against a zombie attack on Saturday in The West Texas Zombie Run.

The race started at 7 a.m. this morning and will last all day.

The Zombie Run is being held at Buffalo Springs Lake. Runners race through a 5k obstacle course, all while being chased by flesh-eating zombies. Participants are given three flags, and the objective is to complete the race without letting the zombies take all of the flags. Participants can register individually as humans, zombies or on teams.

The race will run in heats, with waves every thirty minutes.

Runners who make it to the end of the course can participate in a safe-zone survival party that includes food, drinks and live bands.

The entrance fee is anywhere between $35 and $95.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the local American Cancer Society.
