Hot air balloons fly over Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

This weekend, the skies above Buffalo Springs Lake were boasting a colorful sight.

The lake held their Hot Air Balloon Round Up on both Saturday and Sunday morning. The beautiful balloons floated around our skies all weekend, giving folks a chance to get up close and personal with this unique sport.

Dusty Walker, a member of the Southwest Regional Balloon Club, was at the event, and said he believes it's a one of a kind thing to witness.

"Hot airballooning is one of those sports in my opinions that is very family friendly," Walker said, "because kids are welcome to come watch it. I've seen people in wheelchairs."

The event ran from 7 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and the balloons began launching at sunrise.
