Amigos invites guests to celebrate Fiestas Patrias

Provided by United Supermarkets:

As part of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Amigos announced today it will host an all-day event on Sunday, Sept. 15 to celebrate Fiestas Patrias with its guests.

Fiestas Patrias, recognized every year as the day Mexico declared independence from Spain, dates back 200 years and is an important day of recognition to the Hispanic community.

"We are proud to connect with guests in our community on Fiestas Patrias to celebrate the history and milestones of the Hispanic culture," said Eddie Owens, director of communications and public relations for Amigos. "We hope all Amigos guests will attend the event and take part in this joyous and festive celebration."

Amigo's Fiestas Patrias celebration will take place at the Amigos locations in Lubbock, Plainview and Amarillo. Each event will include pepper roastings, pollo asado and various activities for children.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized by Americans each year from Sept. 15 to Oct.15. The purpose of this month is to celebrate the history, culture and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico and the Caribbean, as well as Central and South America.
