LISD to hold groundbreaking for new elementary school

Provided by Lubbock ISD

The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees and administration, along with members of the Miller family and representatives from Miller Elementary, will break ground for the new Jayne Ann Miller Elementary School at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25. The groundbreaking will be at the former Murfee Elementary site, 6901 Nashville Drive.

The new school, anticipated to open in January of 2015, will house pre-k through fifth-grade students from the consolidated Haynes and Murfee attendance areas. Once completed, Jayne Ann Miller Elementary will represent the second completely new school funded by the voter-approved 2010 bond program.

Due to site preparation, parking will be limited so the public should plan accordingly. A brief reception will follow the groundbreaking - weather permitting.
