Councilmember Victor Hernandez, District 1, and Councilmember Floyd Price, District 2, both received the "Community Champion Award" from the North and East Lubbock Community Development Corporation at the organization's award banquet Tuesday night.

The Community Champion Award is given to honor individuals and organizations who demonstrate a commitment to service throughout the Lubbock area, and who have assisted disadvantaged citizens and helped develop areas that are most in need.

"It is an honor to be recognized for our efforts to make a positive difference in North and East Lubbock," said Councilmember Hernandez. "As Lubbock grows, it is important that housing, economic projects, and investment take place in this area of our city."
