LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

K-9 officers helped capture a suspect who tried to evade arrest on Wednesday night.

It happened in the 8400 block of Freemont around 5:41 p.m. Police stopped a suspicious vehicle and began questioning the passenger, James Williams, 21. They say the suspect may have been attempting to steal a motorcycle.

Williams fled and led the police on a brief foot chase. K-9 units set a perimeter around the area and located him in a back yard. Police say the suspect tried to run again, but was apprehended by the K-9.

Williams was arrested and transported to UMC for medical treatment of the dog bite.
