Baker Mayfield leaves KU game with knee injury

LAWRENCE, KS (KCBD) -

Texas Tech Quarterback Baker Mayfield, who was well on his way to throw for over 400 yards versus Kansas, suffered an apparent right knee injury while stepping up in the pocket late in the 3rd quarter.

Junior Linebacker Schyler Miles for Kansas was blocked into Mayfield's knee on a passing play. Mayfield appeared to be in significant pain and left the field with help from the training staff.

This isn't the only quarterback injury that the Red Raiders have had. Michael Brewer, who was expected to be the starter going into the season, re-injured his back in fall practice.

Brewer was able to make an appearance in the game at Kansas but saw limited time at the end of the game.

Mayfield would leave the stadium on crutches and his status moving forward is unknown at this time.

We'll continue to update this story as details are confirmed.
