Mayfield injury not season-ending

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Baker Mayfield is still recovering from the injury he suffered on Saturday, but Coach Kingsbury says it does not appear to be season-ending.

"Yeah, as it appears and what I've heard from the Doc so far is that there is no structural damage, so we've got to get him over here today and see what all he can do on it, but that's about where we're at. It doesn't appear to be a season-ending type injury. So timetable wise, I'm not sure yet, but that was good news," Kingsbury said.

Mayfield suffered an apparent right knee injury while stepping up in the pocket late in the 3rd quarter versus Kansas.

Junior Linebacker Schyler Miles for Kansas was blocked into Mayfield's knee on a passing play. Mayfield appeared to be in significant pain and left the field with help from the training staff.

Pete Christy is at the press conference and will have a full update tonight at 6.
