Texas drivers owe the state of Texas $67 million, and you may be one of those being asked to pay up.
The Department of Public Safety is sending out warning letters this week. The message: pay surcharges on moving traffic violations or face license revocation.
It's part of the 2003 Driver Responsibility Program which assesses fees for offenses like DWI's, and driving without insurance. Fines for habitually bad drivers have also been increased.
$80 million of those fines will benefit trauma centers across Texas, including University Medical Center. UMC will receive nearly $130,000 from the program.
