Big news for the nations cereal eaters. On Thursday General Mills is expected to announce that all its cereals, not just Wheaties and Cheerios, but even Coco Puffs and Lucky Charms will be made from whole grains.
"Emerging science continues to support the benefits of whole grains in people's diets whether it be heart health or maintaining a healthy body weight, and we are trying to make it easy," says John Haugen, Big G Cereals Vice President of Marketing.
General Mills, a pioneer in whole grains, says it makes good sense to follow the health conscious consumer trends. Especially when you see the maker of Twinkees and Ding Dongs file for bankruptcy. So General Mills is spending millions on the grain change, but the amount of sugar in their cereal will stay the same.
