The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals notched a trio of goals in the first half, with Ryan Blount registering a three-point game, and LCU kept their Heartland Conference record unblemished with a 3-2 win over St.Mary's University Saturday afternoon at LCU Soccer Field.

All five of the game's goals were scored in the first half of play. Emily Odom, who has been on a scoring binge of late, opened the game's scoring with her team-leading fifth goal of the season and her third in Heartland Conference play. Her goal came 6:47 into the game with a shot from just beyond the box.

Just 13 seconds later, the Rattlers countered off the ensuing possession by chipping a shot that snuck under the crossbar. Brianna Shafer scored the goal and it was her third of the season. LCU regained the lead in the 33rd minute with senior Priscilla Brannon scoring on a shot inside the box for her first goal since her freshman season (2010) and the fourth of her career.

The Lady Chaps extended their lead to 3-1 six minutes later in the 39th minute with Blount scoring her first goal of the season and the second of her career. She scored the goal on a header off a pass from freshman Chach Olivarez, who recorded her first career point. The Rattlers cut the deficit to 3-2 three minutes before the half, as Leah Snelson netted her third goal of the season.

Each team was unsuccessful on four shots on goal in the second half and Blount's goal stood as the game winning goal for the first of her career. She was assisted on Brannon's goal for a career-best three-point game. LCU out-shot StMU 19-15 and had a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal. Alyssa Taramona allowed three goals on nine shots for a six-save performance in the loss to fall to 5-5-0. Lauren Story was in goal for LCU and stopped six of eight shots faced.

The Lady Chaps improved to 2-0-0 in Heartland Conference play and they are 5-5-0 overall. StMU fell to 5-5-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference. LCU remains home Monday and will host Texas A&M International at 2:30 p.m.
