Freshman quarterback Davis Webb has been named the Big 12 Conference Offense Player of the Week following his first career start against Iowa State where he led the Red Raiders to a 42-35 win.

Webb, a true freshman from Prosper, is the second Red Raider to earn the award this year and the second quarterback. Baker Mayfield took home the honor following a season-opening win at SMU on Aug. 31.

In his starting debut, Webb threw for 415 yards against Iowa State along with three touchdowns. The 415 passing yards are the most by a Big 12 quarterback this season, edging out Mayfield's 413-yard total in the win at SMU.

Texas Tech has now had three different freshman quarterbacks earn the Big 12's weekly honor, which is the most by any school in league history. Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury claimed the award following his first career start against Oklahoma in 1999.

Texas Tech will take a 6-0 overall record to Morgantown, W.Va., on Saturday to face the West Virginia Mountaineers. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT at Milan Puskar Stadium on FOX Sports 1.
