Willow Bend Elementary training teachers for 'No Excuse University'

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A new program in Frenship ISD is helping students prepare for college from the time they start elementary school.

Willow Bend Elementary became a "No Excuse University" school last year.

They are the first campus in the Lubbock area to have the program.

On Monday, teachers took part in a special training to review goals and to discuss ways to increase awareness in their community.

"We need to make sure that the families and the children understand what we're trying to accomplish; we have to give that college readiness for them so that they know they are prepared to move on. We want to dream big and prepare them for whatever they want to do when they leave high school."

Willow Bend is also planning to host parent nights to invite them to learn more about the "No Excuse University" program.
