Buddy Holly Center hosts Dia de los Muertos Procession

The Buddy Holly Center annually participates in Lubbock's citywide observance of the Mexican holiday, Día de los Muertos, by hosting Procesiόn with the TTU International Cultural Center, TTU School of Art and the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts.

Procesiόn will be November 1, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. between the four locations, and is free to the public.

Procesiόn is during November's First Friday Art Trail. There will be a Calavera Mask Activity, cash bar and hors d'oeuvres served during Procesiόn and the Art Trail.

Zarco Guerrero will perform an original one-man play in Meadows Courtyard at the Buddy Holly Center from 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Zarco Guerrero has been a force in the Arizona art scene for many years as a multi-media artist and community arts advocate. He has participated in the "Artist in Education" program of the Arizona Arts Commission and has conducted workshops throughout the U.S. He is the founder of Xicanindio Artes, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to better understanding of Latino and Native American arts in Mesa, Arizona, and is co-founder of Cultural Coalition.com in Phoenix, Arizona.

First Friday Art Trail

  • A night that provides an opportunity to enjoy fine art, entertainment and refreshments at local art galleries
  • 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Calavera Mask Activity

  • Celebrate Día de los Muertos and learn about the holiday at this station.
  • 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Zarco Guerrero

  • A one-man play
  • 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
