Low turnout in day one of early voting

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock City Council may have a new look soon, if voters in District 1 decide to recall Councilman Victor Hernandez.

But so far, the turnout is low.

The city released early voting totals from Hernandez's district today.

During the first day of early voting, only 86 people in District 1 cast their ballot. There are nearly 17,000 registered voters in that district.

Statewide, voters will decide on nine amendments to the Texas constitution.

One of the most talked about amendments is Proposition Six.

If it passes, prop six would establish a state water implementation fund.

That means $2 billion from the state's rainy day fund would be transferred into the new fund.

Advocates of prop six say the money is needed to make sure people have an adequate water supply during times of drought.
