NCAA sanctions University of Miami

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The NCAA has ruled on sanctions against the university where Texas Tech's current athletics director used to work.

The University of Miami's football team will lose nine scholarships, but will not miss any more bowl games.

NCAA investigators say the university "lacked institutional control when it did not monitor the activities of a major booster."

They say the booster provided illegal benefits to prospects and student athletes from 2002 to 2010.

Current Texas Tech Athletics Director Kirby Hocutt was Miami's AD from 2008 to 2011.

He has denied any wrongdoing or knowledge of NCAA violations under his watch.

Coach Moore was born in Midland, and is excited to return to West Texas and be a part of the great tradition of Lady Eagles basketball.  “Lubbock Christian has an outstanding reputation within the state, not just for excellence on the court, but for the quality and character of its students,” Moore said.
