  • Panda Express at 313 University Ave.
  • Sonic Drive In at 5802 64th
  • Sonic Drive In at 6419 W. 19th
  • Choc'late Mousse Pie Bar at 4210 82nd

This week's low performers:

Pinkies BBQ at 4704 4th St had seven critical violations.

  • Cooked brisket was not at least 135 degrees.
  • An employee did not use soap when washing their hands.
  • There was no soap at the hand sink.
  • An uncovered drink was in the food prep area. An employee rinsed a sanitizer rag in a hand sink.
  • Cooked brisket did not have a proper date-mark.
  • Toxic chemicals were not properly stored.
  • The dishwasher was not properly sanitizing.

Management tells us everything has been corrected. The report shows that as well.

Next we head to Chili's Grill & Bar at 607 University.

Both the bar and the kitchen each had enough violations to land them on the low performer list; these are their combined violations.

  • A block of uncovered cheese, that appeared partially melted and then re-cooled, had white dots growing on top of it.
  • Multiple items including raw beef, raw chicken and cooked ribs were thrown away because they were above the safe cold temperature of 41 degrees.
  • A gallon of milk was thrown out because it did not have a date-mark.
  • It was also above the safe cold hold of 41 degrees.
  • There was no thermometer in the cooler where the milk was held.
  • Spinach dip was held more than two weeks past the expiration. Pasta was held more than three weeks past. Both were discarded.
  • An employee did not follow the proper procedure when washing their hands.
  • An employee did not wash their hands before making drinks.
  • Dirty cups and other cups were in a hand sink.
  • Dirty utensils were in another hand sink.
  • There was no cold water at a hand sink.
  • Sanitizer spray was not in a designated area.
  • A sanitizer solution was at toxic levels.
  • The dishwasher was not sanitizing.
  • Soda nozzle was dirty. Several kitchen utensils were dirty or broken.

Due to the number and the nature of the violations, the inspector noted that management did not demonstrate proper food safety knowledge.

Management says everything has been corrected.

The report shows most were corrected at the time of the inspection.
