A Conversation with Tony Kushner will be presented by the Texas Tech Presidential Lecture and Performance Series on Friday Oct. 25 at the Allen Theatre (TTU Student Union Building) at 7 p.m.
Tony Kushner's internationally acclaimed and controversial play, Angels In America, won the Pulitzer Prize in 1993 and numerous Tony Awards. His other plays include A Bright Room Called Day, Slavs!, Hydrotaphia, Homebody/Kabul, and Caroline, or Change. Kushner is known to tackle some of the most difficult subjects affecting our culture from AIDS to Afghanistan, to that of racism and the civil rights movement in the South.
Facilitating the evening's conversation will be Dr. Mark Charney, Chair of the Department of Theatre & Dance.
There will be an opportunity to meet Tony Kushner at a book signing immediately following the conversation.
In collaboration with the Presidential Lecture and Performance Series, Tony Kushner's translation and adaptation of Pierre Corneille's seventeenth-century French comedy, The Illusion, will be staged at Maedgen Mainstage Theatre November 21-24 and directed by Jonathan Marks.
