The doctors say teens should be encouraged to abstain from sex, but, since many are sexually active, schools and pediatricians' offices would be two good places to make condoms available, especially when accompanied by sex education programs.
This is coming from a committee that is recommending the AAP adopt this policy, to encourage doctors to educate teens about the correct use of condoms.
The AAP says studies have shown that teens with access to condoms and sex education become sexually active later than their peers who don't have access.
