In the meantime, candidates continue to work on their campaigns. Sunday, Republican candidate Randy Neugebauer talked with West Texas farmers devastated by crop losses last year. The District 19 congressman is working to get house support on a disaster assistance package.

At a news conference in north Lubbock today, he said federal emergency assistance should not be limited to the farm families in Florida who were impacted by hurricanes. On Monday, when he returns to Washington, neugebauer plans to continue his efforts to bring aid to West Texas farmers and ranchers.

Neugebauer's democratic opponent, Charlie Stenholm was campaigning in Abiline. He also returns to capitol hill Monday.
