Flu fatalities in children

Posted: Updated:

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control highlights something many parents are not hearing....the flu can be fatal to children, even if that child is normally healthy.

CDC researchers have learned that most of the more than 800 children, who died from flu related problems since 2004, did not get the vaccine. And although the perception is that only sick children are at risk of dying from the flu, more than 40% of the deaths came to kids who were not high risk.      That sends a pretty strong message to parents.

Remember the CDC says all children, 6 months or older, need a flu shot every year.
