Frenship student taken to hospital after fight on school bus

Posted: Updated:

A Frenship High School student was sent to the hospital Monday afternoon after a fight on the school bus.

KCBD spoke with a parent of one of the students on the bus who was one of the few people that called 911.

The bus was en route near 2nd Street and Venita Avenue where a fight broke out between two female students.

According to the mother, the older female student grabbed the younger student by her hair and slammed her head into the bus window.

The mother was on the scene when the older girl was forced to leave the bus.

EMS responded and the injured teen was taken away on a stretcher, allegedly slipping in and out of consciousness.

KCBD contacted both hospitals but they were unable to discuss the student's injuries.

According to Andy Penney at Frenship School District, the older student that attacked the young girl is facing disciplinary action at school.

"The Frenship District and Durham took the necessary action," Penney said.

We reached out to Durham Transportation but they were unable to give us any details about the altercation.

We also contacted the Lubbock Sheriff's Office but they couldn't release any information.

We'll continue to update this story as we learn more.
