Lubbock girl escapes from suspect who tried to force sexual act

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A young Lubbock girl escaped from a frightening situation Wednesday.

Police say a 7-year-old girl was walking along the sidewalk when a suspect pulled up to her in a black SUV and insisted that she get inside his vehicle.

The girl denied him repeatedly but the suspect eventually convinced her to get inside. The suspect drove away with the girl and tried to convince her to touch his genitals. When she refused, the suspect grabbed her hand and attempted to force it.

The girl was able to push the suspect away and exit the vehicle. She then fled on foot.

Lubbock police are searching for a black SUV with a luggage rack.

The incident happened in the 1900 block of 44th Street around 5 p.m.
